13-Year-Old Boy commits suicide After he was Abuse by Soldier in Kaduna

A 13-year-old boy has committed suicide following alleged brutalization by a soldier and a member of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF). The boy, whose identity has not been disclosed for privacy reasons, reportedly endured severe physical abuse that pushed him to killing himself.

According to local sources, the incident occurred last week in a community within Kaduna State. Witnesses reported that the boy was subjected to intense physical punishment by the soldier and the CJTF member, who accused him of petty theft. The specific nature of the accusations remains unclear, but the boy’s neighbors and community members have expressed outrage over the excessive force used in handling the matter.

After the incident, the boy returned home visibly distressed and in pain. Despite efforts by his family to console and care for him, his mental state continued to deteriorate. Tragically, the boy was found dead in his home a few days later, having taken his own life.

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation and calls for justice from human rights organizations and the general public. Local activists have decried the use of excessive force by security personnel, particularly against minors. “This is a tragic example of the abuse of power and the urgent need for accountability among security forces in Nigeria,” said a representative from a local human rights group.

The Nigerian Army and the leadership of the CJTF have yet to issue official statements regarding the incident. However, local authorities have reportedly launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the boy’s death. Community leaders are urging for a thorough and transparent inquiry to ensure those responsible are held accountable.

This incident highlights the broader issues of child rights violations and the urgent need for reform in the conduct of security personnel in Nigeria. The community continues to mourn the loss of a young life, hoping for justice and systemic change to prevent such tragedies in the future.
