18 passengers of AKTC bus abducted by armed men

Eighteen passengers with a driver of the Akwa ibom state Transport Company were abducted by Gunmen on their way to Abia state, they were attacked along Azumini.

The incident was recorded to have happened since last week Wednesday when the AKTC driver left their terminal point in Uyo and passed through Iwukem in Etim council area before they were kidnapped.

ASP Timfon John who is the Police public relations officer has confirmed that the situation is under thorough investigation.

News reports have it that the gunmen who were masked first shoot in the air before stopping the vehicle.

A source said, “All the passengers were ordered to come out from the vehicle or be killed and they obliged.

“The driver was the first person to come down and other passengers were ordered to follow immediately. The kidnappers moved all of them to the bush and escaped with them. The whereabouts of the passengers is not known for now.”

The PPRO said: “Yes, that incident happened along the Azumini axis of the road after the Etim Ekpo local government area.

“All I can say is that the Police are still monitoring the situation now.”
