Man killed by his neighbour for calling him single

In South Tapanuli regency, North Sumatra, Indonesia. An Indonesian man brutally beats up  his 60 year old neighbour to death because he kept asking him why he was single. The murder who is 45 years old, murdered his neighbour who was 60 years old, fifteen years older than him. It was reported that the 60 year old constantly kept asking the 45 year old why he was single and when he intended to marry and this constant questioning got the 45 year old angry that he died to end the old man’s life.

The investigation with the police is still ongoing. Maria Marpaung , the commissioner of police during her interview with some journalist, revealed the name of the victim to be Asgim Irianto while the murderer, Parlindungan Siregar. 

Irianto’s wife  also came to  give her statement to the police describing how  the incident happened. She said Siregar had returned from work on the 29th of July with a heavy piece of wood in his hands and when he arrived attack her husband with it. He chased him to the streets and kept beating him until he sustained many injuries. Some neighbours had to intervene but before people could have taken Irianto to the hospital, he died. Police are suspecting that the reason for this attack is because of Irianto’s constant questionings on Siregar’s marital status.
