When And  Where Did It Happen, Total Solar Eclipse 2024.

The total solar eclipse, a rare and awe-inspiring event, graced the skies of North America on Monday, 8th of April, 2024. This unique spectacle was visible in Mexico, the United States, and Canada, and offered a privileged viewing opportunity to people across the continent.

The total solar eclipse traversed North America and also expanded towards Mexico, the United States of America and Canada. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration announced on Sunday, the 7th of April, indicating that the 8th of April will be the day of the eclipse.

In describing the solar eclipse, it is a situation where the moon moves between the sun and the earth , and totally hinders the sunlight from touching the earth, making the sky totally dark, making the day look like dawn or night time.

It was visible from a 185km-wide (115 mile-wide) band that stretches from the western coast of Mexico, through the US, and up to Canada’s easternmost province of Newfoundland and Labrador – what’s known as the “path of totality”. NASA  said.

The last report of the occurrence of the last total solar eclipse was in 2021 and it was noted to have only been visible in Antarctica. The totality of the last solar eclipse lasted for about just one minute and 54 seconds, according to NOAA.

Addressing the audience, NASA  had advised people of the importance of safety during the eclipse period. They spoke about this on Sunday, the 7th of April,2024.

The organisation cautioned people to observe some majors and also familiarise themselves with safety precautions which included wearing specialised eye protection designed for solar viewing.

As the solar eclipse began making its journey through North America, moving from Mexico transversing the United States of America from Texas to Maine, NASA had extended an invitation to interested persons to come over and watch the solar eclipse as it began its process. It also extended across Canada’s Atlantic coast.
