Reports from Junior Pope’s burial by the Riverside.

Mr. Ikenga, a police officer in Anambra state, in the south-east Nigeria, has spoken on the report about Junior Pope’s burial and about how the Nollywood actor, who died a few days ago in a boat clash, will be buried.

The report has it that the Nollywood actor who is popularly known as Junior Pope, whose native name is Mr Odonwodo, drowned in a boat crash in the Anambra River in Anambra state on Wednesday, 10th April 2024, while returning from a movie shoot.

According to the report, Junior Pope’s burial was reported to have been held by the Riverside to appease the river bodies, but when orders from authorities came, his body was exhumed for proper burial.

During an interview session on Sunday, 14th  April, 2024, a police spokesman Mr.Tochukwu Ikenga, reacted to the claims and strongly refuted the speculations.

The late actor’s body was neither exhumed nor buried, said Mr. Ikenga, who is also a superintendent of police, made a statement contrary to what has been initially told by some reporters. He concluded that the body was still in the mortuary in Anambra state.

However, Mr. Ikenga, police spokesman in Anambra state, said that the family of the three other actors have also agreed that their people should be buried by the riverside but not Junior Pope. He said,

“But later, the family of one of the victims decided to exhume the body to be given a proper burial in her state while the other two were still buried there”.

“Also, Junior Pope and one other are still in the morgue and awaiting the deceased family’s funeral arrangements.”

He also said that the police had gotten permission from Adanma Luke, the producer of the Movie ” The Other Side of Life, ” to interrogate the two boat drivers as part of the investigation into the accident. This was an order given by Mr. Aderemi Adeoye, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra state.

“This is to determine the criminal liability of any person, if any, in the mishap,” he said during the investigation.

Speaking to Nigerians, Mr. Ikenga assured them that the Nigerian police would not compromise the investigation and would provide positive results.
