Deepmind CEO announces Google’s plan to invest over $100 billion in AI.

In the bid to invest in the development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology, an announcement was made of Google’s plan to invest over $100 billion in AI.

This information was brought to us by Demis Hassabis, the CEO of Deepmind, who spoke at a TED conference in Vancouver and was interviewed about Google.

There’s intense competition within Silicon Valley’s race to improve their AI capabilities, which is why Google is making such bold moves.

In a bid to create the supercomputer called “Stargate,” Demis Hassabis made this awareness known in an interview session at a TED conference. He said that the potential creation of a $100 billion supercomputer, “Stargate,” is a collaboration between Microsoft Corp. and OpenAI. He didn’t give proof of its existence nor did he admit that it existed.

Demis Hassabis clarified that he speculates that Google has invested even more in AI than the stipulated amount mentioned. Concluding that the company is committed to maintaining its leadership position in the field amongst others.

He said, “We don’t talk about our specific numbers, but I think we’re investing more than that over time.”

Deepmind has always been at the forefront of AI-research. It was founded by Demis Hassabis in 2010 but was later bought over by Google in 2014. It’s partnership with Google is due to the substantial computational resources which are important in acquiring Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). This is aimed at making machines surpass all human level performance in different tasks.

While acknowledging  the different challenges that are found in AI systems, which are notable in OpenAI CHATGPT. He expressed so much confidence in google computing infrastructure, stating its pivotal role in advancing AI to AGI. He accounts on the public acceptance of AI.

We could remember something from December: Google introduced its new generative AI models with the flagship Gemini Ultra, “lite” Gemini Pro, and Gemini Nano, which are designed to run on devices like the Pixel 8. It also updated Bard with Gemini Pro for conversations in English with users.

The society’s readiness to embrace AI is shown in the widespread interest generated by CHATGPT, not minding the current limitations of CHATGPT. Hassabis’s remarks showed Google’s commitment to using  its different resources and expertise to pilot the development of AI technologies that have capacity to revolutionize various industries.

With the company’s long-term vision and positioning in the growing and evolving age of artificial intelligence, Google’s substantial investment in AI is solely reflected.
