Suicide Bombing Killed 32 people in Borno.

After four suicide bombers set off their improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in Gwoza, eighteen people died.

Many others were injured during the attack which was one of the most tragic events in Borno state. The level of injury was a disaster , they had cases like abdominal ruptures to skull and other limb fractures.

It was later discovered that the number of casualties were over 32. The update on the figure was announced by Vice president Kashim Shettima who visited the injured victim to find out. 

The Vice president reported that while he was at the specialist hospital, 42 people were brought in for treatment and 14 were treated and discharged but 26 were still on medication.

The Vice president also made some personal donations to the victims and also condoled with the families of those who lost their lives.

The Vice president also extended the condolences of his excellency President Bola Tinubu to the people of Gwoza , and Borno state.

He was also accompanied by the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Umar Kadafur; Senator Ali Ndume; Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari; former Nigerian Ambassador to China, Baba Ahmed Jidda; and some other  government officials.

In the president Bola Tinubu’s state to the people few hours after the incident sympathising with the families who lost their loved ones and the Borno state government. The statement was signed by presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, Bola Tinubu kicked against the suicide bomb blast, calling it  a desperate act of terror.

“President Tinubu describes the attacks as desperate acts of terror and a clear manifestation of the pressure mounted against terrorists and the success achieved in degrading their capacity to launch offensives,” He said.

Tinubu also said that the “purveyors of wanton violence shall have a certain encounter with justice and that these cowardly attacks are only but an isolated episode as his government will not allow the nation to slither into an era of fear, tears, sorrow, and blood.”

He also assured that his administration is doing everything possible to secure the lives of the citizens, stressing that more efforts will be made so that those are responsible for such acts of terrorism.

The United States Government describe the attack has horrific while also joining to condemn.

“The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms the horrific attacks that took place in Gwoza, Borno State on June 29. These reprehensible acts of violence show a cruel and heartless disregard for human life,” the US said in a statement on Sunday.

“We offer our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those killed and wish a full recovery to the injured. These abhorrent attacks are a stark reminder of the ongoing threat posed by terrorism in the region.”

It also reiterated its commitment to collaborate with the Nigerian government to defeat terrorism and bring the perpetrators of these heinous acts to justice.
