Archbishop Urges President Tinubu to Step Down if Economic Issues Persist

Archbishop John Olorunfemi Onaiyekan has called on President Bola Tinubu to consider resignation if his administration fails to significantly improve Nigeria’s struggling economy. The Archbishop emphasized that the current economic situation is causing immense hardship for Nigerians, with rising inflation, unemployment, and a weakening naira severely affecting the quality of life across the nation.

Speaking at a recent public forum in Abuja, Archbishop Onaiyekan highlighted the importance of accountability in leadership. He stated, “If those in power cannot resolve the issues that are pushing our people into poverty and despair, they must have the courage to admit their failure and step aside for someone who can.”

The Archbishop’s comments have sparked widespread discussion among political analysts and the general public. Many see his remarks as a reflection of growing dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of the economy. Despite the administration’s efforts to attract foreign investment and implement fiscal reforms, progress has been slow, and many Nigerians continue to face economic hardships.

Archbishop Onaiyekan also urged the government to prioritize the welfare of the citizens above political interests. He called for a comprehensive economic plan that includes job creation, stable energy supply, and social welfare programs to alleviate the suffering of the most vulnerable.

As the debate over Nigeria’s economic future continues, the Archbishop’s message resonates with those who feel that more decisive action is needed to steer the country back on track. Whether the administration will heed this call remains to be seen.
