Four-year-old pupil dies in school during lunch break.

A four-year-old, Miguel Ovoke, was reported dead in BrickHall School, Abuja. The House of Representatives on Wednesday decided to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of the four-year-old child, who was only having lunch when he was rushed to the hospital.

Reports have it that Ovoke reportedly died on the school premises during lunch hours.

The news sources  reported that the medical report of the child’s death, signed by Dr Akinwande Ajayi of Excel Specialist Hospital, Abuja, who represented the medical director, showed that the child was brought into the hospital “on account of aspiration on meat while eating lunch at school hours.”

The death of Migel Ovoke is having a major traumatic effect on his family, friends and classmates. The Federal House of Representatives moved a motion of urgent public importance by the members representing Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency Rivers state. The House of Representatives mourns gravely for the loss of the child.

The House of Representatives and Lawmakers also indicated in the seating that if the matter was not resolved or treated with urgency, it could paint a bad image of Nigeria in the community of civilised nations. 

In response to the adoption of the motion moved by the House of Representatives, the House decided to constitute a special ad-hoc committee to “Investigate the circumstances leading to the untimely death of the young Miguel Ovoke within four weeks and report back for further legislative action.”

To honour the deceased, the House of Representatives observed a minute’s silence in honour of the dead Migel Ovoke, a four-year-old. 

The House of Representatives has further made provisions for the matter to be investigated with immediate effect by the police authorities so that all those involved in the crime will be apprehended.

The Brickhall school has also resumed activities as the school was shut down because of the incident surrounding the child’s death. Learning activities have begun, and pupils are back to studying again amidst the demise of the young Miguel Ovoke.
