Nigerian Court Orders Arrest of Prison Medical Doctor Over Binance Executive’s Health Concerns

A Nigerian court has issued an arrest warrant for a medical doctor affiliated with the country’s prison system. This action follows serious concerns regarding the health of George Gambaryan, an executive at Binance, who is currently incarcerated.

The decision emerged after repeated reports and complaints about inadequate medical attention being provided to Gambaryan. The executive’s legal team argued that his deteriorating health had been neglected by the prison’s medical staff, thereby jeopardizing his well-being.

Gambaryan, who holds a prominent position at Binance, was arrested earlier this year on charges that remain undisclosed. Since his detention, his health has reportedly worsened, prompting his legal representatives to seek court intervention. They claimed that despite multiple requests for proper medical care, the prison doctor failed to offer the necessary treatment.

The court, acknowledging the gravity of these allegations, ordered the immediate arrest of the prison medical doctor. The judge emphasized the importance of ensuring the health and safety of all detainees, irrespective of their charges or background. The ruling underscored the state’s responsibility to provide adequate medical care to those in custody.

The arrest warrant aims to hold the medical personnel accountable and serves as a stern warning against negligence in prison healthcare services. The court’s decision is expected to prompt a thorough investigation into the medical practices within the prison system.

This incident has sparked a broader discussion about the state of healthcare in Nigerian prisons, highlighting systemic issues and the need for reform. Human rights organizations have long criticized the poor conditions and lack of medical care in these facilities, calling for urgent improvements to protect inmates’ rights and health.
