President Tinubu orders suspension of cybersecurity levy.

President Bola Tinubu has issued an order to the Central Bank for the suspension of cybersecurity levy. This is in response to Nigerians’ outcry that the cybersecurity levy is an extra financial burden.

The news report has it that President Bola Tinubu has ordered the CBN to suspend the implementation of the cybersecurity levy on Nigerians and has also asked for a review of the policy by the Senate. 

According to the news report, Nigeria’s federal government expects to receive a $2.25 billion loan from the World Bank on June 13, 2024.

The Nigerian economy is facing a lot of challenges, and having the issues of the cybersecurity levy implemented will only strand the citizens more than it has. 

The House of Representatives has deliberated on the issue, and the presidency has stepped in to conclude it.

The report of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, said to Fubara, governor of Rivers State, that he cannot sack lawmakers with a midnight injunction.

Also, the federal government stated that introducing CNG buses would lead to a reduction in transportation costs.

The hike in the electricity tariff and the cost of drugs have caused people’s health to deteriorate as people turn to spending more than they are earning.

Clumsy record-keeping in Nigerian universities is affecting students’ performance and lectures, enhancing corruption in the system.

These and many more are the issues facing Nigerians, which President Bola Tinubu is expected to look into in order to propose solutions. The cybersecurity levy caused lots of controversies amongst many Nigerians, including the House of Representatives.
