Solutions to the Energy crisis in Nigeria.

The solution to the energy crisis in Nigeria will soon be adopted. The current economic challenge of Nigeria is due to President Tinubu to end petroleum subsidies in 2023. This decision has led to many  economic challenges which  include inflation and higher commodity prices.

The legislative arm of government are responding with suggestions such as CNG buses and renewable energy adoption which will bring a shift towards sustainable development in the country.

The challenges are currently increasing daily. Among them are fragmented energy policies and inadequate infrastructure for renewable energy, which alerts the need for a More cohesive and integrated approach to energy policy in Nigeria 

Following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s May 29, 2023, announcement on ending petroleum subsidies, he said, “I examined the bold reforms and public expectations”. But the shock remains that One year later, Nigerians are  facing  inflation, driving up prices of food items, transportation, and all other essential commodity prices.

Responding to this, the federal government and the subnational government have decided to have implemented palliative measures which are called Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses and other renewable energy technologies . This action by the legislature proves that they are prioritizing the people’s needs

This attempt to shift Cleaner and other renewable energy in Nigeria is also sponsored by the need to address the countries energy supply challenges.

In addition, renewable energy technologies are becoming increasingly cost-effective, making them a more attractive option for reducing energy costs. This is particularly important for a country like Nigeria, where energy costs are a significant burden on the economy – estimated at ₦5.4Trillion by the end of 2024, according to a leaked document.

This is very important for a country like Nigeria which has a lot of economic challenges and issues, where the cost of energy is burdensome to the economy. The cost of energy in Nigeria has been estimated to over N5.4Trillion by the end of 2024, according to a documentary that leaked outside to the public.
