WhatsApp threatens to leave Nigeria soon.

WhatsApp prepares to leave Nigeria after FCCPC, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission fines the company $220 million for breach of data privacy.

Meta, who are the parent company of WhatsApp are also prepared to redraw some services from Nigeria.

The FCCPC has also ordered WhatsApp to stop sharing their users data with other online companies like Facebook with the users consent asides the fine.

They are also interested in whatsApp disclosing all the details about it’s data collection from its users.

A WhatsApp spokesperson  in response told TechCabal, “We want to be clear that, technically, based on the order, it would be impossible to provide WhatsApp in Nigeria or globally.”
